Diabetes contributes to 180+ amputations each week in England, 85% of which are preventable with early detection and proper care.

As a beauty and wellness therapist, you have a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping identify potential issues before they become serious. This workshop empowers you to recognise the signs of diabetic foot complications, enabling you to support clients in seeking timely care.

Together we can make a difference. Together we can help reduce the rate of diabetic foot ulcers and amputations this improving lives - one step at a time.

Our sessions will cover:

  • What diabetes is and the associated signs and symptoms

  • A brief overview of the potential long-term problems (complications) associated with diabetes

  • Whether or not to go ahead with the booked treatments

  • What is a foot ulcer?

  • The observable risk factors leading to foot problems

  • Suitable and unsuitable footwear for people with diabetes

  • The causes of neuropathy and peripheral arterial disease (PAD)

  • The appropriate action to take and advice to give clients

  • Practical demonstration by the educator who then observes and assists the learners during their practical session (in face to face workshops)

The educator will also share with you what advice to give (within your scope of practice) and when to encourage clients to seek additional footcare from a healthcare professional if they spot signs of foot problems.

[This] is essential for any nail pro interested in or already offering pedicures. I felt the workshop catered to all learning styles and was paced really well. It’s given me confidence in dealing with any clients that may be diabetic with more in depth knowledge.
