Demystifying Dopplers & Diabetic Foot Screening Refresher

This workshop is part of our 'Hands on Feet' series, designed to emphasise practical application. Learners will have ample hands-on time to apply the theory and practise the skills they've learned within a supportive learning environment...in readiness for the real-world setting.

This workshop provides you with the opportunity to reinforce your existing knowledge, maintain and enhance skills. It will help you to stay up to date in your role and be familiar with any recent developments.

The day kicks off with a theoretical session followed by an extended practical session when attendees get their hands on numerous pairs of feet!

As with all our workshops, we endeavour to create and friendly and interactive learning environment where questions are welcomed and networking encouraged!

The workshop includes:

  • Diabetic foot screening overview, in line with NICE guideline NG19 (and Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network SIGN116)

  • New developments associated with diabetic foot care

  • Using dopplers – who, what, why, when & how (background and theory)

  • Practical demonstration by the educator of a diabetic foot screening examination followed by a doppler assessment

  • ‘Hands on feet’ practical session for all attendees – putting the theory into practice

  • Ankle Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI) Assessment demonstration*

*The day finishes with an ABPI Assessment by the educator to demonstrate what a fuller vascular assessment can entail.  This expands your knowledge to better support people being referred on for a further assessment by another healthcare professional.  It also provides you with the opportunity to understand more for your own professional development and whether or not you wish to enhance your service by extending your skill set to include an ABPI Assessment.

More information regarding our ABPI Assessment training can be found by clicking the button below.

This workshop is catered to all practitioners working for social care or healthcare providers who are involved in examining the feet of people with diabetes.
