Diabetes: Move Well (NEW for 2025!)
This workshop is designed to build on the learner’s knowledge and understanding of the importance of physical activity and empowering health through movement for people living with (or at risk of) type 2 diabetes.
It further expands upon the information shared within the 'diabetes awareness' workshop; by the end of the session learners will:
-
Understand the difference between physical activity and exercise
-
Understand the mechanisms and role of movement in diabetes care
-
Discuss the importance of assessing/documenting whether or not an individual is safe to take part in physical activities (health status and potential risk factors)
-
Have a greater knowledge and benefits of different activities to aid cardiovascular health and improved muscular strength
-
Know how to support people of all ages and abilities to gain benefit from physical activity (moving more/better) - what, when and how
As with all our workshops, there will be activities to bring the subject alive and plenty of time for demonstrations and guided physical / ‘hands on’ practical sessions for all to take part in*.
*attendees will have the opportunity to take part in the physical activity/movement sections of the training, however participation is optional.
This workshop is relevant for people working for social care providers or in healthcare roles.
